GPS Vehicle Tracking System PROTRAK GPS is a vehicle tracking system which uses the Global Positioning System (GPS). The GPS satellite signals are continuously broadcast from an orbit of nearly 20,000 miles and the PROTRAK GPS receives these signals to calculate its location. The PROTRAK GPS consists of a GPS receiver and cellular modem which is fastened to the target vehicle with wire ties or is bolted securely. A GPS "puck" antenna attaches with a magnet to the underside of the bumper cover and a miniature magnetic mount cellular antenna fastens to the frame. Power is supplied by a direct connect to vehicle power or by a field replaceable battery pack (included)which will power the system for approximately five days. The system can be accessed from a HOST PC at your office using our Host software package. The location of the target is displayed on a digital map of your area. Since many surveillance operations can last a week or more, the replaceable battery pack contains 8 "C" alkaline cells which can be easily replaced. In order to conserve power the vehicle unit can be programmed to "go to sleep" and only awake when the Control Center calls. If vehicle battery power is used, the unit can be programmed to stay awake at all times. You can continuously track the vehicle if needed but that will reduce battery life. PROTRAK is a system which allows a vehicle to be protected by alarm and tracked on a map. PROTRAK can also be set to operate in a "passive" mode for routine or periodic monitoring. PROTRAK uses cellular telephone for communications and a satellite-based navigation system called the Global Positioning System to determine vehicle location. The PROTRAK product includes equipment mounted in the vehicle to be protected (or monitored) as well as equipment and software at a central monitoring station called the "Base Station." The vehicle segment of PROTRAK is a small device called a "Vehicle Unit". The Base Station segment is an interface device called a "Base Modem", a workstation (i.e., a standard PC), and the PROTRAK operating Software. The PROTRAK software, called 'PROTRAK" serves to provide a graphical user interface to the PROTRAK system operator, as well as provide a standard software interface to other programs running on the workstation. PROTRAK can be easily interfaced to Mapix, a raster-based Geographic Information System (GIS). PROTRAK will automatically plot vehicle positions on a map if Mapix is running.
Applications: Requirements: Customer must supply a Pentium PC running Windows 95 with CD-ROM and sufficient memory and hard drive space. A phone line is required as well as AMPS cellular activation.
